Letter from the Secretary-General

Delegates, Directors, and Chairs,

On behalf of the Secretariat, I would like to extend a warm welcome to TMUN25.  In an era of rapid polarisation, individuals often find themselves in echo chambers, where their own views on pressing geopolitical issues are reinforced, whilst the views of others are demonised. It is often the case that we end up debating with caricatures rather than actual people.

Fittingly, TMUN25’s theme “A World Polarised” invites us to reflect on this growing divide- whether it be between the Global North and Global South, libertarianism and socialism, or religious and secular societies. At its core, it challenges us to confront the dangers of oversimplification, where nuanced perspectives are lost to black-and-white narratives. For MUN, this is especially significant: diplomacy depends not on reinforcing divisions, but on bridging the gap.

Your participation is instrumental in shaping the outcomes that will address today's most pressing challenges; as such, it is imperative that you familiarise yourself with the rules of procedure. Preparation is vital to making the most of your experience at TMUN25 and upholding the legacy of excellence that Tanglin Trust School reputes.

We look forward to hosting you this November.

Warm Regards,

Mehar Bhatia
Secretary-General
